Freddie

Freddie is a good bird. I steps up and sits on your shoulder all day if you let him. He eats good and plays with his toys. He has a small plucking issue but we have that under control now.

Tooie

Tooie, is a Citron Crested Cockatoo.  He was bred in Hawaii by a couple who provide the wildlife to hotels on the island among other things.  He was hand fed.  He was purchased there when he was about a year old and brought home. He has lived with this same family for 16 years, making him 17.  He is extremely bright.  He fears little.  At one time they had several pets around, both dogs and cats and Tooie ruled.  He definitely prefers women.  Loves to play games like tag, but his idea of winning is to get a bite of footwear or feet, should that be the case. If he does not like something, he will bite. He has talked a little at times.  When he was younger, he seemed to have a better vocabulary.  He likes to imitate sounds like coughing, nose blowing or other new sounds that he might hear outdoors. He seems to enjoy music and responds to certain vocalist, like Cher by trying to sing along, Eeeeeeeek.

He is a very attractive bird, but due to the fact that he is unable to get the attention he desires he has plucked his feathers.  Also he likes to show off and do a trick in which he hides a morsel of some sort in his feathers and then catches it.  I believe some of the feathers have been plucked in that process as well.  While his current caregiver loves Tooie, she is now alone and can’t give him the time and love that he desires and deserves.

Jake

Jake is a Blue Front Amazon that came to us due to a lifestyle change in his caregivers life. Jake is in excellent health and is a good eater. He does talk some and is very curious about everything. He will step up and likes scritches. As with all male amazons, he can be a little moody at times.

Theta

Theat is a beautiful Sun Conure who is very cage aggressive. Once we have her out of her cage she is handleable. She is a good eater and likes to play with her toys.

Spunky

Spunky came to us because of screaming and biting issues. We have the screaming under control and have been working on the biting. We are now getting him out of his cage and are working on is social skills. He is a very active bird and is a good eater. He love to play with almonds in the shell until he gets them open and then loves the “Treasure” he finds inside the shell.

Sinbad

Sinbad is a cool little bird. He loves to come out and hop and jump around. He will get on one persons should and then if someone else walks by he will jump over to their shoulder.

Sinbad has a plucking issue but we have that under control now. He is a good eater.

Jake

Jake is a nice Nanday Conure. He is a good eater and loves playing with his toys. He is cage aggressive but once out of his cage he is a very sweet bird. We cover our hand with a towel to get him out and then after he is out we can just use our hands with him. He loves to sit on your shoulder and just hang out with you.

Joey

Joey is a very cool and mellow bird. He loves to sit on top of our cockatiel flight and talk to them while sitting in front of the window sunning himself. He likes to interact with people and is a good eater.

Cody

Cody came to us because he became very vocal and loud and his caregiver’s neighbors started to complain. We have been working on this issue and he has improved greatly since arriving. He was well cared for and is in beautiful condition. He is a good eater and a hard player with his toys. Cody prefers women over men and is a bit aggressive towards men.

Cassie

Cassie came to us from a local humane society who had no knowledge or training with companion birds. They thought, like dogs, that if a bird bit someone then the bird would have to be destroyed. Fortunately this was brought to our attention and we were able to educate them n birds enough to allow us to take Cassie for rehabilitation. We now have an agreement with this humane society that whenever a bird is brought to them they call us.

Cassie is a typical cockatoo. She loves to play, sing and dance. She is a good eater and loves to have a walnut every morning. She is also a good talker.

Cassie does get over excited sometimes and can become nippy but this is typical with any bird who gets over stimulated.

Kelly

Kelly is a very cute amazon. He is a good eater. He has a biting issue that we are working on. Unfortunately we have very little background on him.

Nyco

Nyco is a very sweet bird. He will step up and loves to sit on your shoulder. He is a good eater and has a small voabulary.

Pancho

Pancho came to use via the SPCA. He was recovered from a house where the owner committed suicide. Pancho is very untrusting of people and is very protective of his cage. We are working on this fear issue of his and he is starting to respond. He is a good eater and is starting to play with his toys.

Screech

Screech is a very cool bird. He likes to interact with people and is a good eater. He does not live up to his name as he is not a screamer as compared to other conures. He does call out but not anything out of the ordinary.

Jake

Jake is a very sweet but scared bird. His colors are a little dull right now because he has not been on the best of diets. Tthe previous owner told us that when his mother got Jake ten years ago, He was grey. They started taking care of him and Jake bonded to them and then he started getting his green colors. He currently has no toys in his cage at all. We have two hanging off the side of the cage now so hopefully he will get use to them. We will be working for a while with Jake to get him healthy.

Max

Max was brought to the foundation because his caregivers were unable to give him the attention he required. He is a biter and we are working on his socialization skills. He is a good eater and is very healthy.

Moko

Moko came to us from a family that could no longer care for him. He is a good eater and plays with his toys. He is an extremely aggressive biter. Moko will be in rehab until we can improve his social skills and stops the biting.

Bubba

Bubba came to us because if family is moving and cannot take him with them. He is a very active bird who prefers men. He does not like children and will chase and bite them therefore he cannot go to a home with children. He is a good eater and loves to play with toys. He is an expert at escaping from his cage so we have locks on all doors of his cage.

Peter

Peter came to us because his family was moving and he could not go. He is a very shy bird and loves to watch things going on. He is a good eater and is somewhat cage bound. We have been working with him and believe it is time for him to establish a one-on-one relationship with some one.

Katie

Katie came to us from a very loving family but her family did not feel they could give her the attention and care she needed. Katie is a very sweet bird. She enjoys the company of the other parrots in the home. She does not like to be touched and will not step up. She enjoys sitting on top of her cage. Katie will be going through rehabilitation for awhile while we help her overcome her plucking problem and work on her socialization skills. Rio

Rio came to us along with Nicky from a very loving family who could no longer care for them. Rio is a very sweet but vocal bird who likes to sing. She seems to prefer men and will even let some scratch her head. She is more aggressive with women. Rio is a wild caught bird and does not trust people and will not step up and runs from hands. Sonny

Sonny came to us from a very loving family but because his family was forced to move causing a major lifestyle change The Bailey Foundtion was asked to help. He is a very friendly bird and loves to cuddle. He gets along with other birds once he gets used to them. He enjoys his time out of his cage.

UPDATE: Sonny is back in rehab. He has become very aggressive all of a sudden and is biting. We believe that it may be due to him going into mating mode and has become very hormonal. We are working with him to get him thru this issue and as soon as he has settled down again we will make him available.

Lucky

Lucky came to us because his caregiver moved away and his parents could not care for Lucky. Lucky came to use with only one leg but seems to have adapted very well. He is very lovable and loves to be on his human. He is a good eater and likes to play. He is a special needs bird and will need to have his cage set-up to accomodate his special needs.

Update: Lucky is a very gentle and sweet bird who has only one leg. How and when he lost his leg is unknown; however, he seems to have adapted well to his disability and gets around fine! His cage has been customized for his needs, to minimize injury from falling, but Lucky hardly seems to think he needs it! He can be quite vocal when he greets his family, and thoroughly enjoys company.

Clancy

Clancy came to us because he has medical problems that his family could no longer afford. Clancy was having seizures daily. We noticed when we picked Clancy up that his diet was not appropriate for an amazon so we changed his diet and the seizures have not reoccured. He has become very playful and is talking. He is eating good now. He is hesitant to come out of his cage but once he is out he likes to hang out on a perch with people around.

Assorted Cockatiels

The Bailey Foundation has recieved 15 assorted cockatiels over the past week and all are ready for adoption.

Ryan

Ryan came to the Foundation because his owners did not feel they could give him the attention and interaction he deserves. Ryan’s exact history is not known, but it is thought he may have been a breeder who didn’t produce so he was sold as a pet. Ryan likes to be petted but gets nervous when he is out of his cage. We will be working with Ryan on his out of cage socialization skills. Update: Ryan was doing really well with one of our volunteers but due to a family emergency the volunteer had to move away and now Ryan has gone back to square one. He has become extremely aggressive and is biting anyone who goes near him. It will take some time for us to work with him and get him ready for adoption.

Roscoe

Roscoe was originally adopted from our foundation almost 2 years ago. His cargiver moved and Roscoe did not like the new apartment and began to sream constantly. The neighbors began to complain and Roscoe had to leave. We have not experienced the screaming issue here since his return. He is well hand trained and eats very well. Roscoe is a habitual plucker and has plucked his feathers so much that they will not grow back.

Update: Roscoe is as charming as he is naked!! He has plucked his chest and back repeatedly, and feathers will most likely not regrow in these areas. His remaining feathers are beautiful, however, and his tail is long, full, and gorgeous!! He is very friendly, loves a good head scratch, and has a sweet, low voice that sounds like a whisper. He plays vigorously with his toys, and screams for joy while doing it!!
